Our Story
Bondi Sings is a long-standing community choir originally formed as an initiative of Waverley Council. In 2013 the choir became registered as a not-for-profit association and is now managed by a committee of dedicated members.
We meet for 2 hours each Tuesday night during school terms, from 7.15pm. Our rehearsal venue is St Columba Uniting Church, but we are secular.
Our choir is directed by Christina Mimmocchi, a choir leader with more than 25 years’ experience, working with weekly choirs in Sydney and running special workshops further afield. She has a special interest in fostering community through singing and in songs that connect us to culture. You can see more details about Christina at: www.christinamimmocchi.com
Over the years, our repertoire has included many styles including pop music, jazz tunes, gospel songs, classical music and traditional folk music, among others. Each year we introduce pieces suggested and voted on by the choir.
Please note that we are non-denominational and sing a range of music including carols and national folksongs.
We perform 2 concerts a year to showcase our best work and engage the community. We also take part in events such as festivals and other community events.
Any profits we make from our concerts are donated to a not-for-profit organisation that supports music for young people in our area.
We are currently partnering with the Australian Children's Music Foundation (ACMF).

Transforming young lives through music
The Australian Children’s Music Foundation was founded by Don Spencer OAM with the belief that no child should be deprived of both the joy and the cognitive and emotional benefits of music. Their mission is underpinned by the sobering reality that 2 in 3 Australian children currently lack access to music education at primary school. They are proud of their deep roots in the Eastern Suburbs community, highlighted by a longstanding program at La Perouse Public School, where music has become a vital part of student life.
Building on this success, their footprint has been expanded with a new program at Matraville, ensuring even more local students gain the tools for self-expression.
Beyond the classroom, their impact extends to essential therapeutic support, as the ACMF proudly funds a Music Therapist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, providing healing and comfort to young patients and their families.
